I’d still consider myself a newlywed (by the way – what’s the appropriate time when you stop considering yourself one? Just a side note- asking for a friend), but it was just a few years ago that I was newly married – as in, just a few days into the marriage thing.
I was coming off of the best day with my best friend. I was also in a season where I began to get serious about growing my business and things were movin and shakin. My writing was flourishing and I really felt I was stepping into alignment with my giftings.
But sister, if you were to ask me today what I remember most about that season, it would be that my cystic acne was out of control, my eye lashes were falling out from the fake ones I tried to use to distract from my skin, and the make up I was using was entirely too heavy to cover up my ‘blemishes.’
Yep. THAT’S what I remember.
Needless to say, my confidence was at an all time low. Despite all of the goodness that season held.
What a shame that the feelings of insecurity interrupt and distort our perspective of reality. I wish I could go back in time and tell that insecure girl, ‘J – this will be one of your best and most growing seasons. You won’t get this time back, and the things you are worrying about – don’t matter.
Stay present. Be intentional. And take the focus off of yourself.’
And you know who would agree with me on this?
My friend, influencer, and fashion brand founder, Dani Austin. I’m tired of comparison and lack of confidence stealing our memories, our joy, and our ability to grow. So I decided to bring Dani in on this one because she is the definition of a sassy overcomer and comparison kicker.
In this episode we chat about:
- Where jealousy comes from and what to do with those feelings;
- What to do when you begin to feel your confidence dropping;
- How to not lose yourself in the midst of a busy schedule and competing priorities; and
- What it looks like to set and communicate boundaries with loved ones.
Sis, if you feel overwhelmed, lacking confidence, drowning in comparison, and unsure how to gain control over your time – this episode is sure to bring you some clarity. So pull up a seat and let’s tackle this together.
