I get it, you’ve been on lockdown for a few weeks now and you’re ready to switch things up! Here are 10 at home date ideas that Matt and I love, the first one is our favorite!
1. Have a bonfire 🔥
One of our favorite activities, quarantined or not, is to have dinner over bonfires together. Matt sometimes brings his guitar out and plays music while we sit under the stars. Get really into it by making s’mores or your whole dinner over the campfire!
2. Creative cooking 🥘
Both of you pick out 3 ingredients from the fridge or pantry without showing the other, and then figure out how to make something with the 6 ingredients you have collectively!
3. Go for a bike ride 🚲
If it’s nice outside, go for a bike ride together! We started doing this last summer and we love it because we can get active together in a way we both enjoy (I don’t like to lift heavy weights, he doesn’t like to run, but we both like biking).
4. Have a game night 🏓
Play a card game or make it interesting. What does the loser have to do? Dishes for the week?
5. Dress up and have a fancy candlelight meal 🍽
You don’t have to go out to get fancy! Make it really creative — make the most gourmet recipe you can with what’s in your fridge. If you can, make it 3 courses have a toast to all that you’re thankful for! 🥂
6. Create a dream list or bucket list 📝
You know how you’ve been saying you wish you had more time to dream, make financial plans, or set big goals together? Take time to sit down, pray, imagine, dream, whiteboard, and make some future plans!
7. Have a spa day 🧖♀️
Cucumber masks and all. 😂
8. Make buttery popcorn and watch a classic old movie 🎥 🍿
You could even make it feel like a drive in by putting blankets down in the bed of your truck or SUV (if you have one) and playing the movie on your laptop.
9. Declutter 🗑
Pick a space to declutter together (such as a closet, garage work bench)
10. Puzzle tournament 🧩
Do two puzzles with the same number of pieces / same difficulty, each of you to complete one when the timer starts. Whoever finishes last has to clean up after dinner.
Which of these at home date ideas have you done? Which ones do you want to try? Let me know in the comments!

Definitely want to try the 3 random ingredients idea, as well as having a bonfire!!
My hubby and I have game nights pretty regularly, but I love the idea of making a bet with it… we’ll have to try that! 🙂
We also love dancing together! We met at a swing dancing group that meets in Lancaster, and we have enjoyed practicing/learning different moves together at home since then. Basic swing dancing is super easy and fun to learn, but any kind of dancing would do!
