Sister, let me start out by saying that today’s episode is a story of a gal who embodied stepping into your purpose, before you have everything figured out. She saw a need in her local community and began impacting the lives of those around her through a prison ministry. It wasn’t a hidden purpose she needed to find – she simply began where she was, with what she had, and just…started.
We could all learn a lesson or two on how she – Carlee – impacted the lives of others. Carlee was part of our community and would proudly wear the Your Brokenness Is Welcome Here sweatshirts. Tragically, Carlee passed last November in a car accident. But not before she began leaving her impactful legacy.
On today’s episode, I had the honor of chatting with Patti, Carlee’s mother, about Carlee’s legacy, what the Your Brokenness is Welcome Here movement meant to her, and how she has picked up with the prison ministry where Carlee left off. Patti is so strong and such a steadfast spirit and has witnessed the prison ministry grow exponentially over the last few months.
I was so touched when Carlee’s family reached out, and they have been such a blessing to me. Their story truly puts life’s priorities into perspective and continues to ground me.
Sister, I’m here for you to pursue your big dreams and aspirations – but I don’t want you to miss the lives you can impact in the here and now. Your purpose isn’t something that is lost, nor is it something you need to wait to stumble upon. You can serve, help, and impact others through the simple, non-fancy actions in your everyday life.
Carlee’s story has so touched my heart and I know it will for yours, too.
