One of the best purchases that I’ve made to support my family’s health this year is the AirDoctor air purifier. It has made such a difference in the air quality of our home.

Wondering if the AirDoctor is right for you? Here’s why I decided to try the AirDoctor, my family’s experience with it, and what you need to know before buying one.

Why I Decided to Try AirDoctor

Over the past few years, I have been on a journey to improve my health and the health of my family.

The more I’ve learned about the toxic chemicals found in beauty and personal care products, the more I’ve realized that there are toxins in everything from commercial house cleaners to candles to foods in the grocery store.

So I’ve made a huge effort to learn as much as I can about the ingredients that are in the products I buy – and it’s safe to say that I’ve become passionate about finding cleaner options that support my family’s health!

After swapping most of the products in my home for better non-toxic options, I learned that indoor air quality is usually significantly worse than it is outside and can be full of toxins that affect our health! So last year, when I saw that AirDoctor had a major sale going on, I decided to order a few of them to try out.

This is a graphic stating that Jordan decided to try AirDoctor when she learned that indoor air quality is usually worse than outdoors.

The AirDoctor Units I Bought

When I was picking out which AirDoctors to get, I knew I wanted to focus on the areas in our house where we spend the most time, which meant getting coverage in our living area and kitchen, as well as the bedrooms.

After doing some research on the options that AirDoctor has, I decided to start with three sizes, for different parts of the house:

    • AirDoctor 5500: I got this one for our main living area, which includes the kitchen and living room. We have an open floor plan, so I wanted to get something that could handle larger square footage.
    • AirDoctor 3000: I chose the AD 3000 for our master bedroom. Since this is a medium-sized unit, it does a great job for a larger bedroom.
    • AirDoctor 2000: I got two AD 2000s for Noah and Shep’s rooms. These units are perfect for smaller spaces like nurseries.

What Does It Filter?

A lot of people ask what the Air Doctor filters and my response is that it basically gets everything. Anything you don’t want to be breathing, that is! 🙃

But more specifically, every AirDoctor unit contains two filters: the ultraHEPA filter and the carbon/VOC filter.

The ultraHEPA filter traps particulates (things like dust and dander) while the carbon filter traps gases and VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

This ensures that even the smallest of particles will be filtered AND toxic off-gassing, chemicals, and VOCs will be filtered too!

So what does AirDoctor filter? It’s a long list that includes dust, mold, allergens, pollen, dander, bacteria, viruses, formaldehyde, smoke, paint fumes, off-gassing from furniture, odors, VOCs, and more!

This is a graphic that lists what an AirDoctor air purifier filters: dust, mold, smoke, allergens, viruses, etc.

Our Experience with AirDoctor

After having our AirDoctors for almost a year now, I can safely say that I’ve been super impressed. In fact, it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made for my family’s health this year!

Since we’ve gotten the AirDoctor, our allergies have been less severe.

And when the air quality tanked this past summer right around the time I had Shepherd, it just sealed the deal that improving air quality is so important – especially with two babies!

At one point, the air quality in the Midwest was the worst in the entire world. We weren’t even taking the babies outside. But the AirDoctor kept the air in our house clean and pure for our boys and I’m so thankful I had them!

Even Matt, who was a bit skeptical about it at first, said that he could literally smell the difference when you walk inside the house. He now raves about them to everyone!

Everyone I know who has tried them has had great experiences as well. In fact, my neighbor borrowed one for her daughter’s room because her daughter was coughing a lot and she said it made such a huge difference that she immediately ordered one!

Why AirDoctor Over Other Comparable Brands

Obviously, there are a lot of other air filters out there, but I’m glad I chose AirDoctor. Here are some of the things that set it apart from other brands:

    • It has an UltraHEPA filter that captures ultra-fine contaminants like dust, pollen, mold spores, smoke, pet hair, dander, bacteria, and viruses. The HEPA standard requires that 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns are captured. AirDoctor’s 3500 UltraHEPA filter was independently tested and proven to remove at least 99.99% of particles as small as 0.003 micronsThat’s 100 times smaller than the HEPA standard!
    • The AirDoctor also has an additional Carbon/VOC filter that removes dangerous ozone, gases, odors, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) like formaldehyde.
    • It has a high CADR rating in comparison to other brands. CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate. It basically measures how efficiently and quickly the air purifier can remove pollutants from the air. A lot of air purifiers on the market actually have pretty low CADR ratings, or they only work well in small spaces.
    • You can get AirDoctor units that don’t have a WiFi connection or smart features, which means they are low in EMFs, which is important to me.
    • I love that it has an auto mode that automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the air quality and contaminants in the air.
    • ALL lights can be turned off at night which means absolutely no blue light in the bedroom!
    • The price is much cheaper than other comparable high-quality air purifiers (especially during their huge sales).
    • It is super quiet and not loud at all!

What I Love About AirDoctor

There’s a lot to love about these air purifiers:

    • They filter down to 100x smaller particles than other filters! This is because they use an ultraHEPA filter.
    • They’re very quiet. We have these running in the boys’ bedrooms and they have never been too noisy, even when they are on a higher fan speed.
    • It’s super easy to change the filters out. Plus, you can vacuum the filters to prolong their lifespan.
    • I love that I don’t have to think about all the settings. I can set it on auto mode and it will automatically adjust itself depending on what’s in the air.

This graphic lists reasons to love AirDoctor: the light can be turned off, the price is cheaper than competitors and it's very quiet.

What I Recommend Starting With

AirDoctor has a few different sizes of air purifiers. It can be a little confusing at first to figure out which option is right for you.

The unit that is best for you depends on the square footage of the room you want to put it in. I often suggest starting with the AD 3000, if you want to just start with one.

But here’s a breakdown of the units they have:

    • AD 5500: This unit is great for extra large spaces, high ceilings, and open floorplans. It circulates the air in 1,001 square feet four times an hour or in 2,002 square feet twice an hour.
    • AD 2000: This one is small and mighty, engineered for smaller spaces. It provides powerful purification for small rooms, medium/small bedrooms, nurseries, and home offices. It circulates air in 305 square feet four times an hour, or in 610 square feet twice an hour.
    • AD 3000: If you are looking to get a unit for a large room in your home like a master bedroom, living room, or kitchen, this is the perfect size. It circulates air in 638 square feet four times an hour or 1274 square feet twice an hour.

I know these are an investment. If you can’t afford it right now, don’t sweat it!

However, if you’re looking to invest in air filters for your house, I definitely recommend these as they have quality filters that will trap even more particles and gases than a lot of other filters out there for the same price.

If you can only get one, I’d recommend grabbing the AD 3000. It will work for most people’s main living areas.

Ideally, you’d have separate ones for the bedrooms, which is why AirDoctor’s bundle deals are so nice. But start with what you can and know that every step makes a difference! 🧡

Where to Get an AirDoctor

If there’s one investment you make in your family’s health this year, let it be a good air filter. Indoor air quality can be far worse than outdoor air quality and in the fall and winter, you spend so much time indoors!

AirDoctor removes everything from dust, pollen, and mold to smoke, bacteria, viruses, and toxic chemicals so that you don’t end up inhaling it.

You can grab an AirDoctor for your family at a great price here!
