If anyone has ever told you, or even just made you think, that a virtuous godly woman is not an absolute boss, they might have left out some really important information.

Most of us have probably heard about the traits of a virtuous woman, as seen in Proverbs 31. The passage describes a godly woman as someone who is patient, wise, faithful, and generous. She honors her husband, takes care of her family, and helps the poor.

And while those are all incredibly important traits to study and hold onto, there are a few other traits in Proverbs 31 that we sometimes overlook (but are just as important).

So, in this episode of the SHE podcast, I’m diving into 5 traits of a virtuous women that we sometimes forget.

Are you ready?!

5 Forgotten Traits of Virtuous Women

1. Virtuous women are resourceful.

A virtuous woman is willing to go the extra mile to provide the best value (Prov 31:14).

2. They are strategic investors. (Prov 31:16).

She stewards her finances by putting her hard earned money into something that will yield more. Whether it’s real estate, stocks, or something else, she is stewarding her money and growing her resources so that she can care for her family and give generously to her community.

3. They are not afraid to make a profit and build wealth for her household. (Prov. 31:18).

This one is especially important since we often assume that making a profit or being strategic and making money is greedy or slimy. In seeking humility, we often forget that being a good steward of our money is important. If it’s done with integrity and it’s done wisely, being strategic with our money is very Biblical.

4. They are hard workers.

Now, let me just pause for a second here and say that I don’t think the point of Proverbs 31 is to make you think, “Wow, this woman did it all… I need to do it all too, or else I’m failing.” The Scripture doesn’t say that she’s doing all of these things at the same time or in the same season. Some of these things she might have done over the course of her lifetime. I think the real point here is not about doing all of these things at one time. It’s about the character with which she does them –  the work ethic she has.

5. They take good care of themselves.

While it’s clear in the passage that she helps take care of others, she ALSO is intentional in her health and well-being.. She takes care of her body, mind, and spirit. This is another important one. Sometimes we think that it’s somehow holy to neglect our own health and well-being in the name of service, but all that does is makes us unhealthy and wears us out to the point that we can’t take care of others or do any of these other things found in Prov. 31. So taking care of our own health is an important part of making sure we can take care of others.
