Tell me if this sounds familiar…

You get an idea. You’re excited about it. You know you can totally do it!

You tell a friend, and they think it’s great!

You’re feeling really good about it. Then you hop on Instagram.

You see that your neighbor’s cousin’s sister that you once met at a party in college JUST posted that she’s doing something similar to your idea.

You feel your stomach drop and the wind gets knocked out of your sails.

You try to shrug it off.

It’s fine, we hardly know each other anyway, you think.

Just as you’re getting your confidence back, you keep scrolling.

You see a blogger you’ve followed for years and wonder if your idea could ever succeed half as much as she’s been able to with photos and through an Instagram feed.

Your sails take another hit. And it’s all downhill from there.

You begin to think about what others might think of you if you actually try to accomplish that goal or go for that big dream.

Your mind goes to your Great Aunt in Wisconsin who always voices her opinion with sarcasm — in the comments section on Facebook nonetheless.

You begin to think about all that could go wrong… and before you know it, you start texting your friend, the one you told just hours ago…

“You know what, I don’t think I’m going to do—”

Hold it RIGHT there, sister.

This is a textbook definition of self-sabotage…and if it sounds familiar, it’s time to tackle it.

If you’ve ever found yourself in a situation like this, whether your big idea was to try to run a half marathon, start a small business, or start canning, then you know exactly what this is like.

I’ve been there, too.

But before you hit send on that text, before you put it out there in writing that you’re giving up on the very thing you were so excited and committed to doing just hours ago, I called in the expert, a Clinical Neuropsychologist who literally wrote the book on helping people stop self sabotage, Dr. Judy Ho.

No, really, she wrote a book called Stop Self Sabotage.

If you’re having a hard time staying committed to your dreams, goals, or ideas, hold the phone on giving up just a little longer, and tune into this episode to learn:

  • How to find what triggers your self sabotage
  • Tools to understand the patterns to your thoughts
  • Techniques to be more empowered and in control of your thoughts
  • Steps you can take to get out of the spiral of self sabotage once it starts
  • And more

After you listen, tell me in the comments below which step to stop self sabotage you’re going to try the next time you start to feel yourself doubting your goals, dreams, or commitments!
